Oasis Scholarship: Eligibility, Application Process!
The Oasis Scholarship is a scholarship program for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in West Bengal, India. The scholarship is offered by the Backward Classes Welfare Department (BCWD) of the Government of West Bengal.
Eligibility:
- To be eligible for the Oasis Scholarship, you must belong to the SC, ST, or OBC category.
- You must be a resident of West Bengal.
- You must be a student pursuing a pre-matric or post-matric course in a recognized institution.
- Your family's annual income must be less than the prescribed limit.
The prescribed income limits for the Oasis Scholarship are as follows:
- For SC and ST students:
- Pre-matric: Rs. 2 lakh per year
- Post-matric: Rs. 2.5 lakh per year
- For OBC students:
- Pre-matric: Rs. 1 lakh per year
- Post-matric: Rs. 1.5 lakh per year
Application Process:
The Oasis Scholarship is now offered online through the West Bengal government's Oasis portal. To apply, you will need to register on the portal and create a login ID. Once you have logged in, you can fill out the online application form and upload the required documents.

Selection Process:
The selection of candidates for the Oasis Scholarship is based on merit and the availability of funds. The BCWD will shortlist the applications based on the eligibility criteria and then select the final candidates based on their merit.
Scholarship Amount:
The amount of the scholarship varies depending on the student's course of study and family income. However, the maximum amount of the scholarship is Rs. 10,000 per year.

- The application period for the Oasis Scholarship usually starts in July and ends in October.
- The scholarship amount is usually disbursed in two installments, with the first installment being disbursed in December and the second installment being disbursed in March.
